Tomas Carlsson new President and CEO of Sweco
Tomas Carlsson has been appointed as the new President and CEO of Sweco with effect from 1 December, 2012. He will succeed Mats Wäppling, who is leaving Sweco after six years as President and CEO, and close to ten years as a member of Sweco’s board of directors.
Tomas Carlsson is currently President of NCC Construction Sweden and has been active in the NCC group since 1991. He was born in 1965 and holds a MSc Engineering and an Executive MBA.
“I am very satisfied that the board has succeeded in recruiting Tomas Carlsson as successor to Mats Wäppling. Tomas’ solid experience and strong leadership vouch for continued positive development for Sweco”, says Olle Nordström, Chairman of Sweco.
Tomas Carlsson’s previous management positions at NCC include positions such as Regional manager for NCC Construction Sweden and Manager of NCC Roads’ new markets in Poland, the Baltics and St. Petersburg.
“Sweco is a market-leading consulting engineering company, with expertise and profitability at the absolute top of the industry. I am very delighted to be entrusted with the task of leading Sweco onward to new successes together with the group’s 7,700 employees”, says Tomas Carlsson.
“Tomas has shown excellent results during his years at NCC and I am convinced he is the right person to take over as President and CEO of Sweco”, says Mats Wäppling, who is now leaving his post after six years as President and CEO.
