– Sweden’s largest offshore wind farm

Sweco is continuing to develop wind energy throughout Sweden. The company’s energy and environmental consultants have now been awarded contracts for projects in the provinces of Blekinge and Östergötland.

Blekinge could be the site of Sweden’s largest offshore wind farm, a venture that is expected to produce an electrical output comparable to a nuclear power plant. Sweco has been commissioned by Blekinge Offshore to prepare a permit application and an environmental impact assessment (EIA).

Sweco has also been chosen by Vattenfall, which is investigating the potential to build a wind farm in Hornsberg, outside Valdemarsvik. There, Sweco has been given responsibility for optimising the wind farm layout, calculating the production volume, studying the electrical systems and other infrastructure and handling the permitting process. Together, the two contracts are worth around EUR 450,000.

“Sweco has many years of experience in driving major projects in the energy area. Our wind power specialists support developers throughout the entire process by addressing issues related to energy, environment and infrastructure – all to create solutions that result in profitable wind energy projects,” says Eva Nygren, President of Sweco Sweden.

Sweco is already involved in wind energy assignments for clients like SCA, Statkraft, Bergvik Skog and Wallenstam.
