Sweco acquires City of Stockholm’s Office of Research and Statistics
The City of Stockholm’s Office of Research and Statistics, USK, currently has 34 employees. For more than 100 years the office has provided clients like the City of Stockholm with statistics, forecasts, research and studies on issues related to the region’s development.
Since 2007 Sweco has a company that is specialised in analysis and strategy, Sweco Eurofutures. In a single stroke, the company’s President Maria Gårdlund has more than doubled her staff to over 50 employees. The company will thus be one of the largest private providers of qualified analysis services to Swedish municipalities.
“We provide evaluation, analysis and strategy services primarily on behalf of municipalities, public agencies and government offices. Through the acquisition of USK we will broaden our business to include statistics and forecast services,” says Maria Gårdlund, President of Sweco Eurofutures.
Other parts of Sweco’s operations also see advantages in the acquisition. Sweco works on a wide front in the urban planning area with everything from feasibility studies, investigations and strategic planning to engineering, design, planning and project management.
“Our clients often seek detailed analysis material when making important decisions about future investments in the urban and regional planning area. Here, USK can enhance the range of services we currently offer,” says Eva Nygren, President of Sweco Sweden.
USK was incorporated in 2008. The acquisition of USK is conditional on a decision by the Stockholm City Council. The transfer of ownership is scheduled for 1 June 2011.
