SWECO wins yet another road engineering contract in Armenia
SWECO has been selected to design 1,000 km of rural roads in Armenia. The contract is worth MSEK 14 million and will be performed in collaboration with Swedish SweRoad and the Armenian engineering firm Dorproject.
The project as such includes studies, investigations and conceptual design for approximately 1,000 km of rural roads as well as ramps and connections to rural bridges.
”We are very pleased to have been awarded another major road contract in Armenia. The assignment will be a challenge for several of our technical disciplines, including road and transport engineering, environmental management, geotechnical engineering, hydrology, bridge engineering and temporary structures. Environmental management has been given extra focus in this assignment” says Vera Åhsberg, Project Manager at SWECO International.
The local consulting firm Dorproject will to a large extent be responsible for detail design and the preparatory field work.
The assignment will begin immediately and is expected to be completed by December 2009. The funding is being provided by the American Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) through its Armenian branch, Millennium Challenge Account – Armenia (MCA).
SWECO has carried out several similar assignments in Armenia in recent years.
