SWECO wins new environmental contracts in Lithuania

February 2, 2006 | Press release

SWECO VIAK has been awarded three new environmental contracts in Lithuania worth a total of around EUR 1.8 million. The assignments are targeted towards improving the country’s water, wastewater and waste management infrastructure.

”Lithuania is continuing its efforts to comply with EU environmental standards, and is taking numerous measures to upgrade the country’s water, wastewater treatment and waste management systems,” says Per Johansson, Managing Director of SWECO VIAK.

The contracted services include engineering design, technical consulting support and administration of water and wastewater treatment, network rehabilitation projects in different regions of the country and also supervision of construction works. The assignments are being carried out on behalf of municipalities and National Environmental Implementing Agency with funding from the EU Cohesion fund, and will be carried out by SWECO VIAK’s Lithuanian subsidiary SWECO BKG.

At the end of last year SWECO VIAK was chosen to assist in upgrading and enlarging the water and wastewater system in the harbour city of Klaipeda, an assignment that also contributed to the opening of a new office in the Lithuanian harbour city.
