Sweco wins new contract in Lithuania
Sweco has been chosen to help Lithuania’s largest cement producer expand its operations in the north of the country. The contract is worth close to EUR 2.6 million.
”In December Sweco officially become Lithuania’s largest consulting engineering company. That gives us greater scope to compete for the large-scale initiatives taking place in the country to modernise its society and industries,” says Per Johansson, President of Sweco Central & Eastern Europe.
Akmenės Cementas is the Baltic region’s largest producer of cement. The company is now expanding and building a new clinker production line. Sweco has been given responsibility to prepare basic and detail design with focus on structural engineering services. The project is scheduled for completion in 2009.
The assignment will be performed by Sweco’s consultants in Lithuania, where Sweco is now the largest consulting company with 340 employees following an acquisition in December 2007. Sweco’s Lithuanian unit is specialised in consulting services related to the water and environment, energy, building service systems, infrastructure and structural engineering.
