Sweco has been awarded two prestigious architectural contracts in the city of Jinan in northeastern China. The assignments are to design a large, new business incubator centre and an entrance area to a wetlands park. The combined contract value amounts to over EUR 2.6 million.

”In recent years Sweco’s architects have carried out several early-stage architectural assignments in Jinan. The two contracts we have now been given will strengthen our position as a key player for sustainable urban development in the region,” says Jan Mattsson, President of Sweco Architects.

In the first project Sweco will design a 200,000 square meter building that will function as an incubator for start-up companies in the area. The purpose of the new centre is to give the companies the best possible conditions for rapid development.

In the second project Sweco’s building and landscape architects will create the entrance area to a wetlands park on the Yellow River. The focus is on giving park visitors an integrated experience of the large wetlands already in the entrance area. Sweco’s consultants have also been previously involved in an initiative to upgrade and restore the wetlands to reestablish their natural flora and fauna.

The client in both assignments is the municipal government in Jinan.
