SWECO wins contract in Lithuania

May 30, 2005 | Press release

SWECO VIAK has been commissioned by the Lithuanian Ministry of Environment to conduct a major nationwide study. The study concerns sludge produced by the country’s wastewater treatment plants.

“This is one of our largest environmental undertakings in Lithuania. The assignment will affect the entire country and is an important step in adapting to the rest of the EU,” says Per Johansson, Managing Director of SWECO VIAK, water and environmental unit at SWECO.

The ultimate aim of the study is to formulate a long-term solution for management of the sludge produced by the country’s wastewater treatment plants. Today the plants lack sufficient capacity and have an urgent need for efficient sludge management schemes and methods.

The assignment is being implemented by SWECO VIAK’s Lithuanian subsidiary, SWECO BKG.
