Sweco expands in German architecture market

October 19, 2016 | Press release

Sweco is acquiring Jo. Franzke, a renowned German architectural firm with 40 employees, thereby further strengthening its offering and presence in the German market.

“With recognised architectural expertise within commercial buildings, residential housing and urban planning, Jo. Franzke is an excellent complement to Sweco’s German operations. Sweco plans and designs the communities and cities of the future, and architecture is a cornerstone of this work. This is Sweco’s second acquisition in Germany this year and we plan to keep growing,” says Ina Brandes, President of Sweco Central Europe.

The acquisition is part of Sweco’s growth strategy with the aim of holding a leading position in all home markets over the long term. The architectural firm Ludes became part of Sweco earlier this year. Following the acquisition of Frankfurt-based Jo. Franzke, Sweco will have nearly 1,000 architects – 150 of whom will be based in Germany.

“We are very pleased that Jo. Franzke is becoming part of Sweco. With Sweco’s size and complementary areas of expertise, we are strengthening our offering and creating new opportunities for the future. Our customers will continue to work with committed local experts who have the insight required to meet every need,” says Jo. Franzke, Managing Director and Founder.
