Sweco contributes to improved mobility in the greater Amsterdam area
Sweco has been selected for the design of all road infrastructure and the open cut tunnel for the A9 between Badhoevedorp and Holendrecht in the Netherlands. The total contract value is approximately 10 million euros.
Rijkswaterstaat, part of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, is widening the A9 between Badhoevedorp and Holendrecht (project A9 BaHo) from three to four lanes in both directions. Sweco has been selected for the road infrastructure design packages and the middle section.
Sweco is responsible for the integral preliminary design and the final design of the main road network, including all entrances and exits, the open cut tunnel, water management, environmental issues, along with pedestrian and bicycle paths.
Marco Mijnders, Project Director at Sweco: “It’s great to be able to contribute to improved mobility in the greater Amsterdam area. The technical complexity and significant collaboration in this type of project are a huge challenge, but more than 40 Sweco colleagues are proud to help deliver it”.
Sweco recently completed the preliminary design and has now started the final design, which is a major contribution to the A9 BaHo project. The total widening of the A9 BaHo, assigned by Rijkswaterstaat, will be completed by the end of 2026.
