Sweco confirmed as low carbon leader

June 4, 2018 | Press release

Sweco won the 2018 New Civil Engineer Low Carbon Leader Award and was recognised as one of the best civil engineering firms in the UK.

The NCE100 awards are the most prestigious and competitive of their kind in the sector and serve as an independent benchmark for engineering excellence, recognising the most forward-thinking and innovative firms in the industry.

Sweco scooped the Low Carbon Leader Award at a ceremony in London for its work on successfully implementing a new carbon reduction methodology across the Renfrewshire Council’s City Deal infrastructure projects and sharing low carbon best practice across the industry. The company’s work on the Bloomberg UK Headquarters, being the highest BREEAM-rated commercial building in the world, was highly commended in the Design Innovator category, while also shortlisted in the category of Excellence in Alternative Energy.

“This award validates our approach to reducing carbon in infrastructure and across the civil engineering sector”, concludes Lewis Barlow, Technical Director responsible for carbon management at Sweco UK. “A low carbon future will only be possible with cross sectoral collaboration and as engineers and designers we are committed to ensuring that our integrated solutions achieve this.”

Sweco was also recognised by the NCE as a top ten civil engineering firm, placing it sixth in the ranking of the top UK 100 engineering firms.

Max Joy, Managing Director at Sweco UK, said: “This recognition cements our position as one of the UK market’s leading players. Our teams approach every project with the same dedication to excellent client service and we continually strive to push the boundaries of design and sustainability.”
