Sweco acquires Econsultancy and strengthens its position as a leading environmental advisor in the Netherlands
Sweco announces the acquisition of Econsultancy B.V., one of the Netherlands’ leading environmental consultant agencies within the fields of ecology, biodiversity, archaeology, infrastructure, water and soil as well as land surveying using drones. By doing so, Sweco strengthens its team with over 200 experts who are joining the company's Dutch organisation of 1 900 engineers, environmental consultants and architects.
With a strong platform of multidisciplinary solutions for a wide range of both private and public clients, Econsultancy supports the Dutch society’s green transition. Among other services, the company offers solutions and support within the areas of climate change and the green transition, with a strong focus on ecological and environmental sustainability.
“With the addition of more than 200 experts from Econsultancy, we strengthen Sweco’s presence within ecological and environmental services, where there is a large market potential – both in the Netherlands and in other European countries. I welcome our new colleagues and look forward to working together in client projects that transform societies in a more sustainable direction,” says Åsa Bergman, President and CEO of Sweco.
Econsultancy had a turnover of approximately EUR 15 million in 2022 and Sweco Netherlands had a turnover of approximately EUR 214 million in 2022. The acquisition closed on January 3 and Econsultancy will be consolidated into Sweco as of January.
The acquisition is in line with Sweco’s acquisition strategy to grow the business by adding key competencies that complement Sweco’s 21,000 experts, and it will strengthen the offering to clients as well as expand the Group’s market position as Europe’s leading architecture and engineering consultancy.
