SWECO acquires Danish architectural firm

April 30, 2008 | Press release

SWECO has grown in Denmark through the acquisition of the architectural firm Birk Nielsen Planlæggere og Landskabsarkitekter with 18 employees.

“This has enabled us to further strengthen our position in the Nordic market, not least in the interesting Öresund region which offers many exciting challenges for us,” says Jan Mattsson, President of SWECO FFNS.

SWECO’ Danish subsidiary Skaarup & Jespersen is the actual acquirer of Birk Nielsen. Skaarup & Jespersen has been part of the SWECO Group since 2001 and has longstanding experience of assignments in both architecture and urban planning. Birk Nielsen is specialised in landscape architecture, urban planning and wind power. Through the acquisition, SWECO will gain an additional office in Aarhus, Denmark.

The acquisition will increase SWECO’s number of employees in Denmark to around 55.
