Sweco acquires Aros Arkitekter

September 22, 2010 | Press release

Sweco has strengthened its architectural operations through the acquisition of Aros Arkitekter, with 80 employees. After the acquisition Sweco has more than 500 architects and has thereby consolidated its position as the Nordic region’s largest architectural firm.

Aros Arkitekter has offices in Uppsala, Stockholm and Norrtälje. The company is involved in many notable projects throughout Sweden, including Hotell Clarion Arlanda and the Kistamässan exhibition centre in Stockholm.

“The acquisition will enable us to advance our position in the Swedish market and offer additional architectural expertise, among other things in office, retail and hotel projects. Like Sweco, Aros has grown and been successful in the market. We will now also gain an important local presence in Uppsala and Norrtälje,” says Jan Mattsson, President of Sweco Architects.

Aros Arkitekter was founded in 1980 and is well established in the market. In terms of size, it is among the larger architectural firms in Sweden with its 80 employees.

“At Aros we see major opportunities to continue evolving as part of Sweco. Both our clients and our employees will have access to Sweco’s combined expertise and a wider geographical presence. Being part of a larger context is a natural step in our development,” says Jan-Ove Fogelberg, President of Aros Arkitekter.

After the acquisition, Sweco Architects is represented in 18 locations in the Nordic region.
