Markku Varis, President of Sweco’s Finnish subsidiary FMC Group, has been appointed as the new Business Area President of Sweco Finland as of 1 September.

“With Markku Varis as the new Business Area President, we are taking the next step in Finland and fully integrating FMC Group with Sweco’s other operations in the country. The goal is to further advance our leading position and continue our profitable growth in the Finnish market,” says Sweco’s President and CEO Tomas Carlsson, who until now has also held the post of Business Area President for Sweco Finland.

Sweco acquired FMC Group with 1,200 employees in 2012 and is today is the leading consulting engineering company in the Finnish market, with annual sales of approximately SEK 1.3 billion and around 1,900 employees. Sweco Finland now offers comprehensive solutions for sustainable engineering and design, with an emphasis on construction- and industry-related services.
