Sweco wins new healthcare assignment

March 22, 2012 | Press release

Karlstad Central Hospital is gathering its surgical activities in a new surgical centre that will allow greater efficiency and quality of care. Sweco has been chosen to design the new facilities and to plan the ventilation system and all electrical and telecom systems. Together, the contracts are worth over EUR 3.9 million.

“Sweco is involved in healthcare projects throughout the country. Around ten per cent of our revenue in Sweden during 2011 came from healthcare-related assignments,” says Åsa Bergman, President of Sweco Sweden.

Sweco has longstanding experience of major healthcare projects both in Sweden and internationally. The company is currently working on Angered’s new local hospital, Falun Hospital and Linköping University Hospital, to name a few.

More facts:

The project includes 21 operating theatres that will also be equipped for diagnostic imaging, an endoscopy unit and a new main entrance building. All in all, the project covers a total area of 28,000 square metres of new construction and 6,000 square metres of rebuilt area.

The facilities will meet the criteria for LEED Healthcare and Sweco is also responsible for performing energy and climate simulations and providing logistics support for elevator capacity and transport systems.
