SWECO wins major order from NCC when LKAB invests in a new pelletizing plant

December 19, 2005 | Press release

LKAB is continuing its growth offensive with construction of the new pelletizing plant KK4 in Kiruna. SWECO BLOCO has been chosen for building design and awarded a contract worth more than EUR 6.3 million.

”We are very pleased that LKAB and NCC have entrusted us with building design of KK4. SWECO BLOCO has longstanding experience in advanced assignments of this type, not least for LKAB which we have worked with for many years,” says Richard Furuhovde, Project Manager at SWECO BLOCO.

Building design of KK4 will be carried out on behalf of NCC. The assignment will be conducted as a partnering project in which all clients, consultants and suppliers are involved and collaborate from the start. A project management model used successfully in earlier LKAB projects in Malmberget.

SWECO has participated in a variety of planning and design assignments for LKAB since 1975, most recently for building design of the new pelletizing plant in Malmberget.
