SWECO to modernise water and wastewater systems in Russia
SWECO is continuing to win new assignments in the fast-growing Russian market. In a new assignment, SWECO VIAK has been commissioned to upgrade and modernise the water and wastewater systems of two mid-sized Russian cities. The contract is worth over EUR 750,000.
”The assignment will be carried out in the St. Petersburg region, where we recently acquired 50 per cent of the Russian environmental consulting company, Lenvodokanalproekt,” says Per Johansson, Managing Director of SWECO VIAK.
Since 2003, SWECO VIAK has provided the cities of Gatchina and Tikhvin with technical assistance for improving their water and wastewater systems. In the new assignment these cities will be assisted in defining which improvements can be implemented within the available budget frame and provided with support for procurement and supervision. The assignment is being funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, Sida.
SWECO is currently involved in some 20 projects throughout Russia worth more than EUR 13 million. The highly expansive Russian market for water and environmental consulting services is valued at over EUR 160 million annually.
