SWECO continues to grow in Norway

SWECO’s subsidiary SWECO PIC has signed an agreement to acquire one of Southern Norway’s leading industrial consulting engineering companies MEC AS. The acquisition will be an important complement to SWECO PIC’s existing operations in Finland, Sweden and Eastern Europe.

”Through the acquisition we are expanding our offerings in offshore, shipbuilding, pharmaceutical and chemical industries. The acquisition will give us better capacity to serve the Norwegian and international projects in these fields of activity,” says Kari Harsunen, Vice President, Process Industry, of SWECO PIC.

MEC AS, founded in 1981 and located in Mandal, has 22 employees and an annual turnover of SEK 24 million. Market situation within the offshore, ship and process industries in Norway is expected to remain good also for the coming years. In recent years the company has provided consulting engineering services to i.a. Aker Kvaerner, GE Healthcare, Statoil and National Oil.

SWECO, through its subsidiary SWECO Grøner AS with 500 employees, is already one of the leading consulting engineering companies in Norway within infrastructure, construction, energy and environment sectors.
