Record order for SWECO: Wins Norra Länken assignment worth SEK 100 million

April 6, 2004 | Press release

Together with Carl Bro, SWECO has been awarded an assignment by the Swedish National Road Administration to plan and design two major sub-sections in the continuation of Stockholm’s Norra Länken, or “Northern Link”. The order is worth close to SEK 100 million.

The assignment includes planning and design of the Norrtull interchange with tunnels and connections to the existing sections of Norra Länken and rock tunnels under Roslagstull towards Värtan and Frescati.

“We are very pleased to have won these important assignments which will finally relieve the traffic congestion situation, particularly around Norrtull and Valhallavägen. This record order will also ensure good capacity utilisation in our infrastructure operations over the next few years”, says Mats Påhlsson, Managing Director of SWECO VBB.

Norra Länken extends underground from Norrtull and Frescati to Värtan. The driving time between Norrtull and Lidingövägen/Ropsten will be reduced by 10 minutes.

Most of the assignment carried out by SWECO and Carl Bro will be completed by the end of 2005, and will be followed by procurement of building contractors. The construction time is estimated at around seven years.
