Carbon Cost Compass

Sustainability by design

The green transition requires construction and property developers to trade the market with a new currency – carbon emissions. C3 is an innovative and easy-to-use calculation tool that allows construction and property developers to calculate carbon emissions and take action to reduce their carbon footprint as well as their costs in the early stages of their projects.

By connecting your 3D model to a database containing construction part templates with cost and climate data, C3 allows you to easily compare different design choices and directly see the impact on cost and carbon emissions. C3 is a user-friendly and visual tool which allows you to make informed decisions about design in a stage where all opportunities are still on the table.

At Sweco, we believe that everyone has a role to play in the fight against climate change. By providing easy-to-use tools like C3, we hope to empower businesses and organizations to act and make a positive impact on the environment.

In 2023 Ecohelix used Carbon Cost Compass to optimize their sustainable design for their new headquarters. Read more about the how C3 can help projects deliver sustainability by design here.

C3’s Swedish success paves the way for European expansion. During 2024, C3 takes the leap from Sweden to six additional European countries. Leading the charge is Sweco Finland, which is set to launch C3 in the second quarter of 2024 closely followed by Norway and other Sweco countries.

Efficient calculations

Cost and climate calculations are traditionally lengthy and work-intensive. These calculations can, with C3, be performed with simply a few clicks. C3 allows architects, engineers, and builders to assess and select materials that meet both cost and sustainability goals for the project by simplifying the otherwise work-intensive process of calculating the cost and climate impact. C3 streamlines the decision-making processes and facilitates more sustainable building practices.

Reporting carbon footprint

Governments and international organizations are increasingly setting targets and regulations for carbon emissions, and companies that fail to comply with these regulations may face financial penalties or reputational damage.
By making early assessments of the carbon footprint of the project, it is possible to identify potential issues or areas of noncompliance before construction begins. This allows architects, engineers, and builders to adjust the design or construction process to ensure compliance with regulations.

Adapt to a rapidly changing market

Construction and property developers who implement effective tools and a solid climate strategy do not only do their part to protect our planet but will also attract a growing market of environmentally conscious customers and position themselves in a rapidly changing market.
Customers and stakeholders are increasingly concerned about sustainability and environmental impact. Reducing the carbon footprint of a building can help demonstrate a company’s commitment to sustainability and build a positive brand reputation.

C3 services

With C3 Lab, you can, with your own access to the platform, experiment with different material choices in your 3D model and see directly how climate impact and costs are affected. You can make unlimited amounts of comparative climate and cost calculations during your C3 Lab subscription.

With C3 Project, Sweco’s climate and calculation experts will use C3 to calculate your project and deliver several climate and cost comparisons. The calculations will be customized based on your wishes and needs, and you will receive a report with different comparative calculations based on your directives. The delivery also includes a presentation of the results for your project team.
