A new residential area with 200 new apartments

Sweco Architects have designed new residences with courtyard in the new residential area of Lindholmshamnen in Gothenburg. The assignment for Peab, includes both architecture and landscape architecture. Sweco’s winning concept was generous entrances, flexible floor plans that can be adapted based on needs and a courtyard that reflects the landscape of the surrounding Bohuslän province.

The assignment includes 200 new apartments and accompanying courtyard in Lindholmen just outside Gothenburg, Sweden’s second city and Scandinavia’s largest port. The two apartment buildings that Sweco Architects are responsible for, are located around a courtyard and reflect the nearby archipelago, the local landscape and the industrial history of the site.

Space-efficient floor plans and flexible apartments

The buildings shimmer in light earth tones and they blend in with the courtyards at the large entrances, by way of the rustic materials used, such as stone and wood. Through smart, rational and space-efficient floor plans, flexible apartments have been created that can be adapted to a resident’s needs and life situation. This aspect makes the homes sustainable, over time.

The courtyard

The courtyard is characterised by greenery, and large elements in concrete, weathering steel and stone. Footbridges connect the apartment buildings with the courtyard and the courtyard with the street.
