A secure building in the new Kiruna

Kiruna Police Station

When it became clear that the town centre of Kiruna, Sweden’s northernmost town would move location due to external influences from iron ore mining, the police station was one of several establishments affected. Sweco was assigned at an early stage to design the new police station and has been the general consultant and prepared the tender documentation for a turnkey contract.

In close collaboration with the police, the four-story building with an area of 10,600 square meters has taken shape. In addition to accommodating a main entrance open to the public and facilities for police activities such as interrogation rooms, holding cells, a shooting range, and garage, there are also offices and a gym for the staff.
