Electric vehicles car infrastructure

Electric vehicles: from fuel range anxiety to reliable charging infrastructure

It is increasingly clear that alternative fuels – and electric vehicles (EVs) in particular – will be a key part of society in the coming years. Although hydrogen vehicles may also become significant, EVs look set to dominate passenger transport in the short term.

However, many challenges remain to be dealt with. The current charging infrastructure throughout Europe is often insufficient both in terms of quantity and quality, resulting in fuel range anxiety. In many places, existing power networks are insufficient for an increased EV use scenario. As well there is a challenge to roll out charging networks in the streets. Additionally, further political initiatives may be needed to achieve electric vehicle adoption on a broader scale.

Promoting electric vehicles to the public

In addition to making technological advancements in electric vehicles and charging infrastructure, there is a simultaneous need to make the industry more visible and drive change through marketing.

Electric buses and by-the-minute electric car or scooter rentals within city centres provide hands-on user experience and help allay any fears or concerns potential buyers may have.
