Sweco HYDROPROJEKT CZ involved in national environment programme
The Sweco company in the Czech Republic, Sweco HYDROPROJEKT CZ, is involved in a complex project regarding the waste water treatment plant in the Cheb district. Sweco HYDROPROJEKT CZ has prepared the main part of the design documentation for one of the sub-projects and will also be partly involved in the final executive design for all facilities.

The current wastewater treatment plant in Cheb does not meet the legal requirements and water management standards. Furthermore, some of the electromechanical devices require reconstruction, replacement or modernisation. The condition of the wastewater treatment plant has been assessed as a part of a feasibility study which is now being followed by a project to upgrade the plant.
- This is a very important project for Sweco HYDROPROJEKT CZ in the near future, says division director Ales Mucha, and it will therefore probably contribute a lot to our long-term commercial and business success.
The project is the first major project within an environment programme in the Czech Republic and is co-financed by the European Union, the Cohesion Fund and the State Environmental Fund of Czech Republic. It started in October 2010 and consists of three sub-projects in the agglomerations of Cheb, Frantiskovy Lazne and Marianske Lazne.
Once the work at the waste water treatment plant is done, the treatment capacity will be increased with around 40 percent. The plant will also be operated with more sustainable and environmentally conscious methods and furthermore have a higher degree of operational reliability.
