Distribution Systems

Sweco has long-established experience in establishing Distribution Master Plans for urban and rural areas, in planning and design, survey, tendering and contracting procedure, operation and maintenance as well as in acting as supervisor during construction.

Our Clients are mainly distribution utilities and governments, and our services performed internationally are mostly in developing countries in Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America where we have experience from working with both urban and rural distribution systems.

Our teams of experts cover all activities within the field distribution system, and many international projects include the whole implementation procedure, from socioeconomic issues, load demand/ load analysis, survey and planning and procurement through to tests and commissioning.

We are in the forefront of introducing functional design, verified against client’s objectives and in low cost solutions regarding substations and networks. Communication by optical fibre is introduced in most of our projects. We are experienced in customer service systems, AMR/M (Automatic Meter Reading/Management) and call centres, as well as in loss reduction and tariff programs.

Since the early 1960s, Sweco has gained extensive experience from computerised planning of electric distribution systems.  GIS based Network Planning Tools for distribution systems has successfully been introduced in many international projects (Software for Load Flow Calculation, Short Circuit Analysis and Geographical Information System for documentation of network equipment and background Maps).

Additionally, we assist our Clients in establishing maintenance workshops and by creating instructions and routines for storage of equipment and for preventive maintenance.
