Water Resources Management

Water is an important resource and a powerful force of nature. Sweco assists in preserving and utilising our water resources in a sensible and sustainable way.

Each year Sweco implements a large number of surveys and studies in connection with protecting our surface and ground water. This can involve identifying and assessing risks or submitting a plan containing remedial measures that will improve protection. We investigate how the water conditions are affected and carry out Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs). We also examine expectations and safeguard water as a resource through robust water catchments and sustainable water supply plans.

There are specialists at Sweco who work with the analysis and mitigation of society’s discharge of contaminated water, so that a good status of water can be maintained. In order to gain a picture of how water behaves in various situations we work with computer simulations and GIS. Then we can improve the basis on which we make our decisions and optimise remedial measures.

By using natural warmth or cooling from the earth, mountains and water, we can contribute to a more sustainable development of society.
