Urban Water Management

Effective pipeline systems are required for the transportation of drinking water, wastewater, storm water, gas and district heating. Sweco produces systems solutions for clients that are beneficial both financially and to the environment. Inadequate maintenance of existing systems can lead to, for example, leakage  or flooding along with its health, financial and environmental consequences.

When water and wastewater operations are improved, the financial conditions are also affected. Sweco fully understands that well planned implementation is one of the most important prerequisites for a plant to operate properly in the future. As well as knowledge of water and wastewater systems and the watercourse’s historical development, good understanding of the latest technology and expertise concerning climate change is necessary.

Sweco creates sustainable system solutions for the extraction, derivation and transportation of water. We are also involved in identification, risk assessment and remedial measures for the better protection of watercourses and water and wastewater systems. Our assignments cover environmental investigations, analysis and planning of various types of water systems. With such a collective knowledge available we can assist with investigations that increase knowledge and understanding of our systems. This makes the formulation of new strategies possible when building new systems or expanding existing ones.

Through modelling, Sweco increases understanding of the pipeline networks and the watercourse’s current function and can evaluate the effects of any measures planned. In order to gain control of the watercourse’s and the pipeline network function, flow and pressure measurements are a necessary calibration and validation instrument.
