Meet the new President of Sweco Sweden

2/2/2012

In mid-January Sweco Sweden appointed a new President, Åsa Bergman, who was previously responsible for Sweco’s project management operations in Sweden and didn’t hesitate to accept the new challenge. We asked Åsa Bergman a few questions about Sweco and her new role.

How does it feel?

I am very happy to have been honoured with this appointment. I feel enthusiastic and eager to learn more about all of Sweco’s activities and the expertise found among our employees. I am equally curious to know more about our clients and their perspectives on the assignments carried out by Sweco throughout Sweden.

Who is Åsa?

I am originally an engineer with a degree in civil engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH). I have worked as an assignment manager, project manager, regional manager and now most recently as President of Sweco’s project management operations. During my 20 years at Sweco I have held a variety of positions and have been a member of the company’s executive management team for the past six years.

How will I as a client notice that Sweco Sweden has a new President?

Sweco has a decentralised organisation where our employees are responsible for their own client contacts throughout the country. This is part of our recipe for success. I hope to contribute to clarifying the picture of the comprehensive interdisciplinary consultant that Sweco is today. Many of our clients may only be familiar with part of our offering and today we offer more and more total solutions in which architects, engineers and environmental experts work together.

What lies ahead?

We have a number of successful years behind us at Sweco and the goal is to maintain this growth. We will continue to sharpen our focus on the sustainability area and take measures to develop our workplace. This is necessary in order to attract and retain the top talents. Without skilled employees, Sweco is nothing – after all, the employees’ knowledge is what the clients are buying.

What are your drivers?

I will work to further raise the level of cooperation between our various technical disciplines. When we cooperate within Sweco and together with our clients, we have major opportunities to contribute to sustainable development of society. I am also very interested in leadership. One of our most important tasks as managers and leaders is to motivate our employees – to encourage them to grow, develop and generate good business that our clients can feel satisfied with.
