Sweco has been selected to engineer and design the Swedish pavilion for the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai.

“Sweco is a world-leader in solutions for the environment and sustainable development and our architects have in-depth knowledge in these areas. Our pavilion will naturally express these values through its design, which is fully in line with the Expo’s theme of “Better city – Better life”, says Jan Mattsson, President of Sweco Architects.

The 2010 World Expo will be held in Shanghai between 1 May and 31 October 2010. The event is expected to attract 200 participating countries and organisations and around 70 million visitors. The exhibition content of the Swedish pavilion will be handled through a separate procurement.

“We are enormously pleased and proud to have been awarded this contract. Sweco has long experience of working in China and has built up invaluable expertise through involvement in prestigious projects there,” says Jan Mattsson.

Sweco is one of Europe’s largest and most diversified providers of architectural services, with more than 400 employees in Sweden, Denmark and Finland. Over the past eight years the company has been instrumental in developing residential areas and entire eco-cities in China.
