A vision for sustainability and 31,000 projects to back it up.
Enriching project #18 563 of 31 000. Our film “The Sustainable Playground” is about Sweco’s vision and reality, our common driving force and all of our projects. In the film, Sweco’s philosophy and approach is represented by a playground where the children generate energy simply by being themselves.
And this is not just any playground. If you pedal on the bicycle carousel, soap bubbles appear. If you jump on the ground, a rubber boat is inflated. If you ride on the seesaw, a film projector starts playing. One thing leads to another. And the world depicted in the film is not far from reality.
In the Swedish town of Kil, construction has been underway for the past six months on the Skogsgläntan preschool (Enriching project #18563), which Sweco’s architects have been active in designing. Skogsgläntan will be a low-energy, or so-called passive building. The basic idea, as far as possible, is to heat the building using natural sources such as the heat radiated by people and equipment. The next stage of the project is to develop solutions that utilize human energy for additional purposes. For example, we are looking at ways to use the kinetic energy generated by the children as they play to design the future’s sustainable playground.
