Sweco has a long and inspiring history. Already in 1889 the basis for what is now Sweco was founded. Below are some important historical events listed. 1889 Hugo Theorell starts Theorells Ingenjörsbyrå
1897 J. Gust. Richert establishes VBB
1903 First international assignment in St. Petersburg
1910 Central heating system at Royal Palace in Stockholm
1930 VIAK, Olsson & Jonsson founded
1951 Erling Reinius, VBB, invents the modern-day reinforcement bar
1953 Planning and design of power plant at Aswan Dam, Egypt
1956 Planning and design of Wennergren Center
1958 FFNS Arkitekter founded
1962 VBB saves temple of Abu Simbel in Egypt
1965 Water distribution system in Kuwait City
1987 Stock market listing of FFNS Arkitekter
1988 VBB acquires BECO. VBB group is formed
1997 FFNS acquires VBB group and Sweco is formed
2000 Öresund Bridge opened, planned and designed by VBB
