Sweden is building its own pavilion at Expo 2010. Sweco has been awarded the prestigious assignment to design and develop technical solutions for the pavilion. The result will be an exhibition centre that will convey a picture of Sweden as one of the most innovative countries in the world.

The tunnel that ties together Skåne and Zealand

Sweco is taking part in work the City Tunnel, one of Sweden’s largest infrastructure projects, which will link together Sweden’s Skåne region with the Danish island of Zealand. The result will be a 17 km section of railway, of which 6 km in tunnels under central Malmö with two new underground stations.

Ingenious solution for cooling and heating

Sweco has created a solution for eco-friendly energy supply at Arlanda Airport. Through the development of a thermal energy storage facility it is now possible to store heat from the summer for later use in the winter, and conversely to store cold in the winter for use in the following summer.

Floods are expensive and can lead to major property damage. The Mölndal River is a waterway that has overflowed on several occasions, at an enormous cost to society. To address these problems, Sweco is mapping the water flow in the river and proposing measures to prevent flooding.

Many countries in Africa lack a functioning power grid, both in the cities and in rural areas. Rural electrification makes people’s everyday lives easier and contributes to social progress. Sweco is working to improve access to electricity in several locations in Africa.
