New additions to Swecos's board

In connection with Sweco’s annual general meeting on 29 April, two new members were elected to the company’s Board of Directors. Sofia Arkelsten will contribute the political perspective, while Kai Wärn offers in-depth industrial experience.

Sofia Arkelsten
Sofia Arkelsten is a member of the Swedish parliament and is the Moderate Party’s ecopolitical spokesperson. She has previously worked for the retail industry association Svensk Handel and for ICA AB. Sofia has been a full-time politician since the last parliamentary election in 2006.
1. In what ways do you think Sweco is an interesting company?
”Sweco is’hands-on’ and action-oriented. In my political career I have mainly focused on laws, international agreements and long-term goals, and now I am happy to also be part of the actual implementation. In addition, Sweco is very good at a communicating about the company, its values and solutions in a positive way.”
2. What issues are you especially committed to?
”That’s easy, my top three are waste, sewage and logistics. Plus energy efficiency.”
3. What do you hope to contribute as a member of Sweco’s board?
”I can contribute the political perspective, which is more interesting and fun than it might sound. A lot has happened when it comes to environmental thinking and politics, not just in Sweden but also in the EU, China, India, Brazil and the USA.”

Kai Wärn
Kai Wärn is President and CEO of Seco Tools AB. He has previously worked in international product operations in the ABB group, including ten years stationed abroad. Kai Wärn holds a master’s degree in engineering from the Royal Swedish Institute of Technology.
1. In what ways do you think Sweco is an interesting company?
”I find Sweco exciting for the wide diversity of its operations and expertise. I am also fascinated by Sweco’s vision to become Europe’s most respected knowledge company in the fields of consulting engineering, environmental technology and architecture. It feels like Sweco is headed for a continued eventful journey and I look forward to taking part in that.”
2. What issues are you especially committed to?
”Given my background, I have a special interest in internationalisation and growth. But I also have a wide range of interests and am happy to devote myself to everything from IT and corporate governance to customer issues and other operational development.”
3. What do you hope to contribute as a member of Sweco’s board?
”An in-depth industrial and international perspective. I have been active in the industrial sector ever since starting as a trainee at ABB and up to the present in my position as CEO of a listed international industrial corporation.”
